Create a Virtual Directory - Step I

In this tutorial I will show you how to set up a new virtual directory in both Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional. If your web site will be in a directory different from the home directory (c:\Inetpub) you must create a virtual directory

The following are the steps that you take to create a virtual directory in Windows 2000.

1. You need to create a folder to house your web site. To do this click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.

2. Click on the (+) sign to the left of My Computer to expand it.

3. Click on the (+) sign to the left of Local Disk (C:) to expand it.

4. Click on the (+) sign to the left of Inetpub to expand it.

5. Click on the wwwroot folder.

6. Click File > New Folder and name the folder tutorial.
